A report says that whatsapp is working on improvement in its security, by adding fingerprint authentication as well as Face ID features. This feature will protect the user's chats from being seen by others. Once the feature is enabled, it will require him/her to authenticate via fingerprint or Face ID recognition, to open the app.

The Facebook owned company was earlier also said to be working on this, but only for iOS users. However, now they are said to bring this feature to android also. iOS users will be provided both the options, i.e, fingerprint as well as Face ID, but android users will be provided only the fingerprint feature due to a large and open network of android platform.

Whatsapp have already worked on these biometric authentication features for iOS, but haven't made them available for the users yet. On the other hand, the feature is under development in the android 2.19.3 beta version.

How to enable this feature?
The feature can be enabled by going to settings>account>privacy.
Once the feature is enabled, it will protect your entire WhatsApp rather than protecting some specific conversations, and the user will be asked to authenticate through fingerprint or Face ID. However, if your device already  have a security feature, then it will work as an additional security feature particularly for whatsapp.

This feature will be available for all the android users with marshmallow or higher version of OS, and ofcourse a fingerprint sensor.
