Revolution or evolution - what we actually need
We often keep blaming the system for everything. We seek "revolution" against such system and hence we start searching for a leader who will bring it and change everything. Everything will be in harmony then - a perfect world with perfect order.
But do we ever realize that what we have done ourselves? Do we ask a question to ourselves whether this revolution is necessary and actually required? And instead, bring an "evolution" - the one within ourselves : within our very own conscience!
No... And why should we..? After all, we have someone or something to put a blame upon! We have been doing this the whole time and we have such a good practice of it! And most importantly, it is the easiest way... Isn't it?
Since our childhood, we grow in an environment where we learn one thing most: blaming others for our very own sins! Is our duty solely for the family and not the nation that has given us so much?
The rights - we always remember them for ourselves. The duties - we do remember, but only those of others and not ours! This filthy mentality has resulted in a nation we are witnessing today. Hineous crimes take place everyday; accidents- as we don't want to follow the traffic rules; people are dying due to starvation and poverty; poor children seek a quality education and a healthy life, but never get it. Is it not our duty to consider and not just rely on government and law and order for everything happening around us.
When such an event takes place, we start blaming that this is the system's fault, this was going to happen, this government is running the country hence it is responsible. Police do nothing and always reach the crime scene when everything has already happened. We forget that we ourselves are the part of this system, and everything that has happened around us is directly or indirectly a consequence of our own deeds. Let's understand this with a few examples.
Suppose a truck is loaded with petrol tanker meets an accident, and all the petrol starts falling off. The locals who would observe this, start collecting this petrol in bottles and other large containers, and why not, it comes free of cost! Was it not their duty to inform the authority as soon as they saw this accident. Tell me how the police would reach the spot at time? Are they God, that they would know this by themselves? And when the tanker explodes and people die, everyone would start blaming the law and order, and start arising questions like why no-one reached the site before this being happened?
If the government provides a train service to the public with world class facilities at a very reasonable cost, the very next day it is observed that LCDs were torn apart and taken away home by the passengers themselves. And why not, it is their property after all, the"public property". Tell me how in any way this is the government's fault?
If any accident or rape incident happens in the middle of road, people just watch and ignore. Do you think that the police and other officials are God and they would know anything by themselves, when it happens, and where it happens?
If the government inaugurates a highway with world class road transport sevice, every facility provided in it like solar panels, taps etc. are torn apart and stolen. These facilities are for ourselves, and who you think does all these things. Is it the government itself or is it the police?
No, it is us. The filth must be thrown out of our minds, and no police or government could do that. Only we can bring this change within ourselves. And this would be the true revolution - the evolution of our conscience. Why do you think Mahatma Gandhi has said, "Be the change, you wish to see in the world". And why do you think the genius Einstein said, "The world is a dangerous place to live not because of the people who are evil, but because of those who do nothing about it".
So next time you urinate on the road, better be careful that someone is watching. Next time you ride your bike without your helmet on, be careful that somebody knows that. Next time you throw your garbage on the road, keep in mind that someone is aware of it. And that someone is not anyone else. It is your very own conscience that would always keep telling you what you are doing is wrong and you must evolve and rise above all your evil deeds..!
