Chandryaan-2 mission aborted, ISRO being appraised for finding the glitch in last seconds

The launch of Chandrayaan-2 at 2.51pm on Monday, was stopped at midnight 1.55. President Ramnath Kovind was also in Sriharikota to watch the launch of Chandrayaan-2 but due to some technical difficulties, ISRO took a major decision to stop the launch.

Highlights:
  1. ISRO praised for addressing the fault in the 'Bahubali' rocket on time.
  2. ISRO aborted the launch one hour before the scheduled time in early morning
  3. Not only space scientist, but people are also praising ISRO on social media
  4. ISRO has said that the new date of Chandrayaan-2 launch will be announced soon.

The whole country was eagerly waiting for 2:51 pm on Monday, and then all of a sudden, only about an hour ago, Chandrayaan-2's launch was aborted. Indeed, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) decided to avoid the launch due to technical flaws. Although, it might be frustrating for people who came to see the launch, but ISRO is being praised for making a tough but wise decision at the right time.

'Delay for some time is better than never'
ISRO recognized the technical breakdown in its 'Bahubali' rocket an hour before launch early in the morning. People on social media have praised ISRO and said that 'delay of some time' is better than 'never'. ISRO has said that the new date of launch will be announced soon. The purpose of Chandrayaan-2, which costs Rs 978 crore, is to take India to the surface of the moon and study it. Under Chandrayaan-2, India will detect water and minerals on the surface of moon. It will also measure the earthquakes.

What did space scientists say about the abort?
Scientists have praised ISRO's sensitive and wise decision made at the right time. On Monday, many space scientists said that it was better to not rush the mission in a hurry and the space agency should be praised for postponing India's second moon mission Chandrayaan-2. This mission is being considered as the most complex and prestigious mission of ISRO so far.

In an official announcement regarding the abort of the launch, ISRO's Associate Director (PR) BR Guruprasad said in Sriharikota, "A technical glitch was detected in the system, 56 minutes before the launch. Taking the precaution, the launch of Chandrayaan 2 is being postponed for today. Even though he did not tell why the mission was stopped what was the reason behind this glitch.

'ISRO is Master in checking till last minutes'
Rajesh Kumble Nayak, head of the Center for Excellence in Space Sciences in Kolkata, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) said, "ISRO's success rate with the launch system is extraordinary. In the last minutes, checking and diagnosing complex systems in a rocket is an art in itself, in which they have mastered."

'The decision to stop, instead of being trapped in crisis, was right"
He further said, "I am glad that scientists of ISRO decided to stop the mission rather than going in a hurry and getting trapped in crisis. I hope the mission will be launched in the next few weeks, which is better than failure." Scientists hope that ISRO will soon eliminate the technical flaws and the mission will be launched successfully.
'Vehicles and satellites are monitored time to time'
Sudip Bhattacharya, Associate Professor of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, said: "Before launching such a space mission, we celebrate our technical skills and scientific possibilities, but we should also remember that very strict testing are done and and every part of the satellite is monitored frequently."

'It is not good to be complacent, should stay alert till the last moment'
Sudeep said, 'No one should be complacent and should remain alert till the very last moment. Today, the abort of launch for some time is indeed the result of our alertness, which saved the day from spoiling and its entire credit goes to the team. I sincerely hope that any technical problem will be removed. '

ISRO scientists have said that the new launch date will be announced later. After this mission is successful, India will be the fourth country to have a soft landing on the moon surface. So far America, China and Russia have been able to achieve this achievement. Dibiyendu Nandi, a professor of IISER, said, "Our closest astronomical neighbor is the moon, and in this way it is an important first step in our journey of cosmic discoveries."
