The feature can be found here after the update:
Currently, when we tap on three dot after opening WhatsApp, we can see the options like 'New Group', 'New Broadcast', 'WhatsApp Web', 'Starred Message' and 'Settings'. But after the 2.19.101 update, a new option of 'Archived Chats' will be added among these options under 'WhatsApp Web'.
Currently the 'Archive feature' is available at the bottom of chat:
However, the information given by WABetaInfo also states that after the 2.19.116 update, the 'Archive' feature will come back under chat. Also, it has been said that the real reason for bringing this feature back is not known, but it is possible that after the 'Ignore Archive Chats' option is available for everyone, this feature will be shifted to the main menu again.
What is the 'Ignore Archive Chat' feature?
Last year, WhatsApp had announced that it is testing a new feature named Vacation, which has now been introduced in beta version. According to a tweet from WABetaInfo, this feature has been introduced with a new name, which users can use in Beta 2.19.101. WABetaInfo reported that the feature that was being tested earlier as the Vacation Mode, has now been introduced as 'Ignore Archived Chats' by the company.
What is the difference between 'Ignore archived chats' and 'Archive chats'?
At this moment, a chat automatically un-archives, as soon as the new messages are received in the archived chat of a WhatsApp user. This unarchived chat then starts appearing in the main chat list. After the arrival of this new feature in WhatsApp, the archived chats of the user will remain as an archived message and won't appear in the main chat list of users, until and unless the users unarchive the messages themselves. Archived chats are available in the main menu, while Ignore archived chats will be found in Whatsapp settings and notifications.
