Xiaomi drops the price of redmi Y2 device in India - now starting from ₹8,999 for the base variant
Xiaomi has dropped the price of xiaomi redmi Y2 devices in India by ₹1000. The company had said that it will make 5 announcements as a part of its new year celebrations. The first announcement was the all week sale of redmi 6A, the second one was price drop of mi A2, and now this is the third announcement for those who are planning to buy the redmi Y2, as the company has cut the price for both 3gb and 4gb variants of this smartphone. The new prices have been revised on Amazon.in, mi.com and some partner offline stores as well.
The company had launched this device at a price of ₹9,999 for the 3gb/32gb model and ₹12,999 for the 4gb/64gb model. But, both models are now available with ₹1,000 drop at all the available online as well as offline stores.
Amazon is also offering a discount of upto more than ₹7,000 in exchange of an older smartphone, as well as a no-cost EMI option for select banks. The official Mi online store is also offering discount in exchange of old phones, upto ₹1800 cashback, upto 240GB free data with airtel and 3-month free subscription for hungama music.
Specifications:
The device comes with android 8.1 oreo OS with MIUI 9.5 out of the box. It has a 5.99 inches HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the qualcomm's octacore CPU of snapdragon 625 soc clocked at 2GHz, with adreno 506 GPU. It has a dual rear camera setup of 12MP+5MP with AI beautify 4.0 feature, whereas the front camera is 16MP selfie camera with flash. The security features include both the fingerprint sensor as well as the face-unlock support. However, the face unlock feature is a bit slower. It has a USB 2.0 port with 3.5mm audio jack. The device supports vo-LTE with dual-nano sim setup and is powered by a 3080mAh battery. All these specs are identical for both the 4gb/64gb as well as 3gb/32gb variants which are expandable through sd-card.
Pros & cons:
The device has a decent daylight camera performance but doesn't work very well in lowlights. Battery life is good. The facial detection is also not that good.
However, with a price drop, it can be still a good buy as a budget device.
