617 million accounts hacked : details of users are being sold on dark web
A new cyber hack has been reported online, in which accounts of 617 million users have been compromised. According to the report, the details of these accounts are up for sale on dark Web. The report adds that the data breach occurred from 16 different websites including Dubsmash, MyFitnessPal, My Heritage, and many more.
The data breach include email addresses, passwords, personal informations and location details. The listing of hacked accounts were spotted on Dream Market and are up for sale for less than $20,000 in bitcoin currency. The report by The Register, further adds that hackers cracked the security vulnerabilities within these apps and extracted the account information of users. It also says that accounts were hacked in last year as well.
Several websites like MyHeritage, 500px and EyeEm have confirmed that the account information of their users were stolen from their servers, which comfirms that the news isn't fake. These websites are informing their users about the hacks and have asked them to change their passwords.
A security expert Gavin Millard have suggested that the users should check if their emails have been compromised or not. For this, they can visit the website Have I Been Pwned, which is known for collating all the major data breaches.

It was first spotted by the security researcher Troy Hunt, who said that the data is available online and can be downloaded by anyone.
