Apex Legends - a new evolution in the battle royale games is going to take over PUBG and Fortnite
Electronic Arts had recently launched their latest battle royale game Apex Legends. The game is launched to compete with other major Battle royale games like PUBG and Fortnite. It was launched on February 4, and in the first week itself, the game has been played by 25 million players. This milestone has made it one of EA's fastest growing games ever. The game was already registered by 10 million players before its launch.
The game had reached the 10 million mark in first three days only, while Fortnite took two weeks to reach this feat. Inspired by Fortnite and some other battle royale games, Apex Legends is a blend of the movie franchise "The Hunger Games" and the video game "Minecraft" - a formula that seems to be working quite well for young as well as old gamers.
Apex Legends is available on consoles and PC. It is a free-to-play game across all the platforms including PlayStation 4, XBOX One and Origin on PC. It is a remake of Titanfall series and is developed by Respawn Entertainment. It is set in the same universe as Titanfall.
The rapid growth of Apex Legends can be attributed to the existing fanbase of Titanfall. Unlike PUBG and Fortnite, Apex Legends offer the player, a set of characters to choose from.
There are eight characters in total. These include 'Bangalore' which is a professional soldier. Her abilities include smoke launcher, double time and rolling thunder. Another character named 'Bloodhound' is a technological tracker and is considered as one of the greatest game hunters.
After choosing your 'Legend' character, you can team up with two more players to make a squad. EA will start seasons in the game from March. Just like Fortnite, players in Apex Legends will also get to unlock new characters, fresh weapons and themed loot after completing seasons.
