Are we God gifted?

You may have encountered a situation atleast once, in which one of your friends or relatives or even a stranger had said that you are god gifted or they are god gifted. Or you are such a talented person, I don't have so much talent like you. But have you or that person, ever wondered that where did this talent come from? Did it just came out of nowhere inside you and you had to do nothing for it? Were you really born with those instincts which we often refer to as being God gifted? Do you really think that we are born with such talents and it's this talent which makes us different from the rest? Let's understand this with a very common example.

For many of us, this example is a common one even if you don't watch football. It's about two football icons Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Most of the football fans have this thought that Ronaldo is very hard working and has acquired the skills he possess today, through this hard work. On the other hand, they also think that Messi was born with such instincts and hence is God gifted. And when he's on the pitch, he's like floating so easily everywhere, humiliating 4 to 5 defenders at a time and then... Goal! Some of us even say sometimes in a funny manner that Messi is not the best on this planet because he is actually from some other planet. But, anyways that's a rhetorical expression. But, do you really think that he doesn't work that hard like Ronaldo does, day and night? Do you really think that the magic he shows us on the pitch, is just because he is God gifted and talented? I'll leave the answer to yourselves to decide..!

As a matter of fact, the only talent we all are actually born with, is our curiosity. This is the only talent that runs in our veins since the day we are born. Man has been curious since the beginning and this has resulted in the evolution of technology all around us we witness today. Suppose a person born a century ago or two, could somehow travel in time and come to witness the today's world, he would be mesmerised by seeing all the creations of today. It would be nothing less than a miracle for him. Even our parents and grandparents who are still watching all this today with us, are also fascinated by all these technologies. But, what's the sole reason behind all this? Is it the misconception that we are born God gifted and possess such talents since our childhood? Or, is it the very fact that curiosity is the only talent we are born with? Decide yourself!

A talent, in my book of definition, is something that looks extraordinary to others, but is as easy as any other day to-day activity for you. It's like a child's play for you. But, the only one who knows how hard you had to work to aquire such skills, (that others call your talent) is yourself. For example, if you are an artist who likes painting and drawing, did you in the very beginning itself, just hold a brush and some colours in your hand, and create your masterpiece? No, it was for sure, a terrible one. Perhaps, the most ugly piece of art that you had created. And probably others may have humiliated you too. But continuous effort is what you have brought you so far, and there is a possibility that even till now, you might not have created your masterpiece. So, talent is nothing more than a misconception which we think we are born with. There is another usual thought among people that only a few of us are unique and talented. But, that too, is a myth. Every single human being on this planet has got a unique set of skills hidden inside. The only difference is that only some of us recognize it and show it to the world. Most of us just lead ourselves with a predictable and miserable life having this thought that we don't have any unique set of skills. We don't want to explore ourselves and discover what we are capable of. Hence, we make ourselves a part of rat race. And once we get old, we die regretting that why didn't we do something we always wanted to? Why didn't we make our own path when we had time? Was it because I was afraid of what people would think? Was it because they would humiliate me? Or, was it because I was afraid of myself and always doubted myself, and never explored the hidden capabilities inside me? I'll leave this to you to think! I guess you are wise enough to answer.

So, why not explore ourselves now? Why not discover the hidden abilities within ourselves now? Why not do something creative which we are proud of? God brings us into existence with a purpose (a unique one that he thinks only we are capable and hence gives us the gift of curiosity). So in a broad sense, yes, we are god gifted. And not just a few, but all of us. Then, why the others should decide what we chose to do? Do they even care? We must lead our life with courage to be ourselves so that we don't regret in future. It is always upto us whether we want to choose a path or create one by leaving a trail.

At last, I would like to end my conversation with some lines:
"Just because we limit ourselves, doesn't mean we are not capable. It simply means that we are limiting our capability!"
