New whatsapp features for android users - a new simplified media menu and tracking feature for shared images

WhatsApp has yet again been spotted testing some new features in its beta versions for android devices. It may bring a shared media section with group or individual chats. This will provide new options for seeing the media in chat, a new overflow menu for setting the media as profile photo, group icon or wallpaper, and a new single rotate option as well. This will simplify the media menu and reduce the number of options seen.

Recently, WhatsApp was spotted with 21 new emoji designs in an android beta build. And before that, a group call shortcut option was rolled out with stable builds. Here are some details about these new features.

New shared media option: Users when browsing photos in the media section will now see new options when they tap the three dot menu button. These are namely 'show in chat', 'set as' and 'rotate'. The first option let's you see where that particular image was shared in the individual or group chat.

The 'set as' option isn't actually new but now comes in a simplified form. For now, there are different individual options namely 'set as profile photo', 'set as group icon' and 'use as wallpaper'. But the new feature will bring a 'set as' overflow menu, which on tapping will show 'my profile photo', 'group icon' and 'wallpaper'.

The 'rotate' option isn't new either, but again in a new form. Instead of 'rotate left' and 'rotate right' options, you will now have a single 'rotate' option, which on tapping multiple times, will have the same effects.

All these informations were revealed by WAbetainfo which has been bringing the news regarding the WhatsApp beta versions in earlier builds.
