Android Q revealed with a system wide dark mode and enhanced security

Google is all set to launch its next major update in a few months. A couple of new features may come with the new Android Q, as revealed by xda-developers. These features are a system wide dark mode and an enhanced security.

The renders from xda-developers reveal a system wide dark theme. This can be a major visual change in android devices. Till now, the latest android pie has a limited dark mode feature. By enabling this mode, only the notification panel and the app launcher become dark. But, the renders by xda-developers reveal that this setting can be extended to more places like settings menu, in the upcoming update. Moreover, this feature can also be applied within an app that lacks a built-in version of this mode.

Google is also continuously working on enhanced security and user privacy. It already has implemented strict rules for accessing camera or microphone and background apps in some recent updates. And another screenshot from the xda-developers reveal another such additional feature, that will add up to the level of security. This image shows that Google may add a feature of "allow only while app is in use" to sensitive permissions like accessing location. Till now, only an on off toggle is available for this, but adding this feature will provide flexibility, as some apps don't work entirely when the permission is turned off.

A couple of other features may also add up to the list. According to the xda-developers, Google is also working on an external or desktop display mode like Samsung's Dex.

Also, there may be a developer setting for built-in screen recording, as revealed in another screenshot by xda-developers. We may hear more about this new major update in the coming month of May, as new features of pie were also revealed last year during this time. Also, it may be launched in the month of August, like oreo and pie in the last year.
