This is 'fingerprint lock'. It helps you secure your chat on WhatsApp. Read further how you too can keep your chat safe.

How to lock chat on Android? 

1. First of all, to enable WhatsApp chat on Android, make sure that WhatsApp Edition 2.19.221 is operating  on your phone.

2. After this, go to the WhatsApp 'Settings' option on your Android smartphone.

3. Now go to the sub-section of 'Account' and tap on 'Privacy'.

4. After tapping on privacy, scroll to the last option i.e. fingerprint unlock.

5. Now you tap on 'Fingerprint Lock' again, after which you will be asked to confirm whether you want to use the fingerprint sensor to lock / unlock WhatsApp with your registered finger on the sensor.

How to lock chat on iOS? 

1. First of all, make sure that your phone is operating on WhatsApp Edition 2.19.20.

2. Now first of all go to "Settings" tab on WhatsApp on your iPhone and tap on "Privacy".

3. Scroll down to lock the screen and set the toggle.

4. Once you start the toggle, your Touch ID on iPhone will be activated for WhatsApp and if you have Face ID, your face will unlock WhatsApp chat.
